About Kerry

Kerry Evelyn has always been fascinated by people and the backstories that drive them to do what they do. She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Sociology. A native of the Massachusetts South Coast, she taught in an inner city elementary school before moving to Florida to teach in a rural setting, and then in her own neighborhood. Fast forward a few years, and she's now a crazy blessed wife and homeschooling mom to the two sweetest kids you'll ever meet (she's also super biased). When she's not homeschooling or writing, she's mentoring moms through Mom Mastery University, sharing essential oils, and planning super fun events for her kids and their friends (although her own kids have yet to be impressed, being that every event has some sort of learning snuck in to it). She loves God, books of all kinds, traveling, taking selfies, and escaping into her imagination, where every child is happy and healthy, every house has a library, and her hubby wears coattails and a top hat 24/7.

Kerry was a writer before she was a reader. At age three, she wrote a letter to her Nana in Heaven, and has been writing ever since. The daughter of an avid romance reader, she discovered books and HEA's (happily-ever-afters) at a very young age (her family still blames that Disney trip at age three for her change in latitude). When she met Anne Shirley, she knew she'd be an author someday. Fortunately for her, she got plenty of creative writing practice, as her grandfather would never accept store-bought gifts. He was the lucky recipient of the countless stories, poems, comics, and art projects that helped her hone her craft and prepare her for a stint in high school as newspaper editor. She wrote many news and feature articles throughout high school, and after a week in a journalism class in college, promptly changed her major to education. After that, she busied her compulsion to write with letters to friends, sorority alumnae newsletters, wrote customized short stories for the struggling and reluctant readers in her classes, mom club e-newsletters - you name it, she wrote it.

In October 2015, Kerry attended a conference and was reminded by mom coach Hannah Keeley that she had a dream, and that dream was to make her long-held vision of becoming a novelist, a reality. The moms she met there and her friends at home wouldn't let her forget it, and the next month she started the historical fiction mystery-suspense-romance she'd always wanted to write. While interviewing soldier friends for military information several months later, one theme kept coming up - PTSD. After a lot of starts and stops and writer's block, she decided to stop fighting the story that was taking over her mind, and a book that she never intended to write, took on a life of its own.

Meanwhile, in January of 2016, she attended her first book signing with two avid reader and writer friends, Julie and Karen, where she met Lorelei of Lorelei's Lit Lair. That night, the Lit Lair Ladies were born, and over the next year, they met dozens of authors and read more books than ever before. She learned that authors, romance authors specifically, are some of the nicest and most helpful and generous people she'd ever met.
